Obituary of Doris Mae Lanier Aycock ~ 2006

Doris Lanier Aycock, age 78, of Leland, went to be with the Lord on 
Monday, January 9, 2006.
She was born in Duplin County to the late Eli and Minne Reece Lanier. 
Remembered is her husband, Elmer William Aycock, grandson, Stephen 
Delaney Aycock and brothers, Everton, Shelton and Ray Lanier who 
preceded her in death.
Doris has been a member of First Baptist Church of Leland for over 50 
years and taught Sunday School Class until she became ill. She was a 
volunteer at Brunswick Cove Nursing Home for 10 years.
She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her because she touched 
so many lives in so many ways. After her long battle with cancer she 
was ready to go home and be with Jesus.
Doris leaves behind three beloved children, Delaney Aycock and wife 
Lisa, Judy Aycock Thompson and husband James and Carson Aycock; four 
grandchildren, Angie Thompson Larson and husband Jon, Sherri Thompson 
Pruner and husband Mike, and Lauren and Matt Aycock; three great-
grandchildren, Josh and Sarah Larson and Austen Pruner; two sisters, 
Margaret Sanderson and husband Josh and Shirley Walker; one brother, 
Carlton Lanier and wife Sally; and many nieces and nephews.

All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed
I am now at peace forever, safely home in heaven at last."
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at 
First Baptist Church of Leland. Interment will be in the church cemetery. 
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 6 to 8 
p.m. on Wednesday at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel.
