Wallace -- Mr. DeLeon Landin Sholar, age 78, of 622 Angola Bay Road, 
Wallace, died Friday morning, Dec. 31, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 2, from the Pin Hook 
Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Buster Price and 
Rev. Jonah Swinson. Burial will follow in the Mobley Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Roxie Pierce Sholar; three daughters, 
Mrs. Norman (Doris) English and Mrs. Jack (Kathleen) Jones, both of 
Wallace and Mrs. Craven (Eloise) Register of Clinton; three sons, Lawton 
Sholar and wife, Christene, Bobby Sholar and wife, Peggy, and Richard 
Sholar and wife, Nancy, all of Wallace; one sister, Mrs. John E. (Hazel) 
Lanier of Wallace; one brother, Elbert Sholar and wife, Clara Belle, of 
Wallace; 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-
grandchildren.
Born in Duplin County, Mr. Sholar was the son of the late Irving and 
Daisey Cavenaugh Sholar. He was a retired farmer and attended Pin Hook 
Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
The family will receive at the Padgett Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. 
Saturday and will be at their residence, 622, Angola Bay Road, Wallace, 
other times.
