Obituary of David Leonard Lanier ~ 2005

Mr. David Leonard Lanier, age 85, of 3253 Fountaintown Road, Chinquapin, 
died Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at Duplin General Hospital in Kenansville. 
Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2005, at 
Padgett Funeral Chapel. Rev. Tom Penny will conduct the service. 
Burial will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Lanier Family Cemetery in Chinquapin.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Angeline Edwards and husband Donald 
of Jacksonville, Mrs. Polly Young and husband Jack of Surf City, Mrs. 
Bonnie Jones and husband Robert of Chinquapin and Mrs. Tammy Lanier of 
Wilmington; one son, Scottie Lanier and wife Julie of Brevard; twelve 
grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and two great great 
grandchildren.
Born in Duplin County, Mr. Lanier was the son of the late Dave Hatch 
Lanier and wife Luda Lanier. A son, Ivy Dorian Lanier, also preceded him 
in death. Mr. Lanier was a member of Lanier's Chapel Free Will Baptist 
Church.
Casketbearers will be Donnie Edwards, Jackie Young, Jerry Edwards, John 
Edwards, David Young, Ron Edwards, Matt Brown and Ivy D. Lanier Jr.
The family will receive immediately following the funeral service Thursday 
until 9:00 p.m.
