Castle Hayne - Mr. Columbus Lee Ritter, 67, of Rt. 1, Castle Hayne, died 
early Monday morning following a long illness.
Born in Castle Hayne, N. C. on September 13, 1906, Mr. Ritter was the 
son of the late William T. and Mrs. Cora Lee Pittman Ritter. 
He was married to the late Mrs. Lois Jane Rouse Ritter who died in 1969. 
Mr. Ritter, prior to his retirement, had been a prominent and well known 
farmer in the Castle Hayne area. He was a director and vice-president 
for the Hanover Mutual Exchange and was a life-long member and Deacon 
of the Wrightsboro Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Shirley R. LaSure of Porters Neck, and 
Miss Elizabeth Jean Ritter of Raleigh; a sister, Mrs. Effie Mae Tartt of 
Castle Hayne; four grandchildren, Brian Scott LaSure, Bruce James LaSure, 
Allyson LaSure and Lee Ann LaSure, all of Porters Neck; several nieces 
and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. from Coble's 
Oleander Chapel, Rev. Boyd L. Lambert and the Rev. Wayne Slayton 
officiating. Interment will be in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
Casketbearers will be Robert Wells, Tommy L. Todd, Tom Ennis, Perry 
Whitman Jr., George Futch, and J. B. Rivenbark.
Honorary bearers will be W. R. Todd, C. J. Drevyn, M. C. Cagle, Roland 
Edwards, O. D. Buck, Clayton W. Fountain, J. Reece Harrell, Bascom 
Johnson, Dr. Robert Andrews, Bradford Rivenbark, Herman Moore Sr., 
Jacob Swart, J. F. Tyre, Dan James, A. B. Barefoot, Eliash Stanley, Jim 
Rankin, George W. Wilkins, W. M. Moss, Laurence C. Davis, and Woody 
Wooten.
The family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. LaSure Jr. of 
Rt. 1, Box 628-A, Porters Neck, and will receive friends at the funeral 
home Tuesday night from 7 to 8 p. m. A Coble service.
