Arvad Rouse Dies Sunday At Age 84 

Arvad Merrill Rouse Sr., 84, of 707 North Orange Avenue in Dunn, died 
Sunday at Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital.
A native of Duplin County, Rouse was the son of the late Owen N. and Della 
Rouse. He came to Dunn in 1931 and operated Rouse Truck Lines. Since 1953, 
he had been associated with Southern Mercantile in Fayetteville.
He had driven himself to work on Friday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Divine Street United 
Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Loftis officiating. 
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Johnson Rouse; one son, A. Merrill 
Rouse Jr., of Rockville, Md.; one daughter, Mrs. Ann Rouse Warren of Dunn; 
two sisters, Mrs. Olga Carpenter of Kinston and Mrs. Lizzie Borzillo of Ft.
Lauderdale, Fla.; sisx grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Rouse will be carried to the home at 5 p.m. today and the family will 
receive friends there tonight.
Skinner and Drew Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
