and Julia Hicks living together for 19 years.
HUSBAND NOTES: FORTIN/FORTUNE CARR
Census: Fortin was owned by James and Susan Dickson, Slaveowners. He was given to
Susan Dickson in James Dickson's Will. Then later on in Susan/Susannah's Will, Fortin
was to be shared by her children - Ann Dickson Pearsall, Ozborn Carr, John Carr, Linda
Carr, and Anne Dickson Oliver (who was the wife of Benjamin Oliver).
To be more specific: Susannah received slaves named Rose, Finetta, Dorrithy,
Milly, and Fortain from the will of her husband, James Dickson.
Her children were to share the slaves named Sam, Nancy, Virgil, Simion, Cate,
Sarah, Grace, Rias, Sanders, and Pharo when they came of age.
When Susannah died, her will said that her son Benjamin2 Oliver was to get
slaves: Nettis Bill Hagan in trust for her daughter and his sister, Dorothy
Dickson Maxwell
Her other children: Ann Pearsall Ozborn Carr John Carr Ann Jane Dickson Oliver
Linda Carr were to share slaves: Milly (whom she received from her Husband's
