Stephen Williams to William Barns
This Indenture made the Ninth day of January in the Second Year of the Reign of Our Sovereign
lord George the third Reg of Great Brittain France and Ireland
King defender of the Faith and in the
Year of Our lord Seventeen Hundred and Sixty two 1762 Between Stephen Williams of the County
of Onslow Planter of the One part and William Barns of the County of Duplin Gentleman of the
Other Part. Witnesseth that the said Stephen Williams for Himself His Heirs Executors
administrators or assigns for and in consideration of the sum of Fifteen Pounds Proclamation
money of North Carolina him in hand Paid By the said William Barnes the Receipt whereof he
the said Stephen Williams do hereby acknowledge Himself fully satisfied there with do Bargain
sell and By these presents Confirm unto
William Barns His Heirs and assigns forever
One part or Parcel of land lying and Being in the County of Duplin on a White Oak swamp
Beginning at a live Oak and Runs south 100 Poles to a pine then 60 West 130 poles to a Black
Oak then north 30 West 100 Poles to an Oak a the swamp then along the swamp to the Beginning
Containing By estimation ninety Acres be the same more or less which said land was granted By
Pattent to Anthony Williams of Duplin county, Bearing date the Twenty Second day of May in the
fourteenth year of Our Reign anno domini 1741 as By Record in the proper office may appear and
By the said Anthony Williams was given By Will to his son Benjamin Williams deceased and after
his decease to his Brother Stephen Williams To have and to Hold the said Plantation tract or
parcel of land
Containing Ninety acres
More of less together with all Houses Orchards Yards Gardens Barns Stables Fields meadows and
Fences with Woods and Waters together with all priviledges and appurtenances to the same Belonging
or in ways appertaining to him the said William Barns his heirs executors administrators or assigns
forever and he the said Stephen Williams for myself my heirs executors administrators or assigns with
the said William Barns his heirs and assigns do Covenant and agree in manner and form following that
is to say that the said William Barns his heirs executors administrators and assigns shall and may
from time to time and at all times forever Peaceably and Quietly Have Hold occupy and enjoy and
possess the above bargained premises and appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof free and
clear of and from all manner of charges and encumbrances what so ever had made done or committed By
Him the said Stephen Williams or any other person by his order means or procurement he the said William
Barns he paying the Quit Rents of
Four Shillings proclamation money per Hundred
Acres from the tenth day of May in the Year One thousand seven Hundred and Fifty 1750 for the said
Ninety acres herein granted and sold and I the said Stephen Williams my heirs executors administrators
and assigns the Onbargain Premise and every part and parcel thereof unto the said William Barns his heirs
and assigns from and against the Claim of and from all manner of persons Whatsoever shall and Will and Hereafter
do Warrant and defend In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and Year first
above Written
