(Transcribed by Carolyn Shank) Written: 1795 December __ 1795 THOMAS WRIGHT, Sheriff of Duplin County to BENJAMIN LANIER (county not given) for 135 pounds 640 acres. Beginning at the head of Rhodes' Swamp at a pine between the Dark pond and HENRY RHODES' swamp, to a pine Between the head of Miller's Branch and the Great Meadow. The County Court of New Hanover at October Term 1783 has awarded 2550 pounds to the exrs. Of WILLIAM DRY for judgment against the Exrs. Of JOHN ANCRUM. At February Term 1795 it was adjudged that 1150.10.9 pounds plus cost was due from the Guardians of said ANCRUM'S heirs, owners of the said 640 acres purchased by Said LANIER at public auction 12 Dec. 1795.
