Samuel Ward To Curlin Smith
Deed 200 acres
State of North Carolina Duplin County
This indenture made this Eighteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred
and ninety. Between Samuel Ward of the one part and Curling Smith both of the State aforesaid Planters.
Witnesseth that the said Samuel Ward for diverse good causes and considerations him thereunto moving but more
Especially for the valuable consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds good and Lawfull money of
the state afore said to me in hand well and truly paid by Curling Smith aforesaid the Receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged he the said Samuel Ward doth by these presents given granted bargained sold assigned and set over
to the said Curling Smith his heirs and assigns forever one certain Tract or parcel of Land situate lying and
being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on the East side of the No. East River opposite to the mouth of Rockfish
Creek Including a survey that was formerly made for Jobe Herrington Containing in the whole two hundred acres
Begining at a blackjack on the River bank Herringtons upper corner and Runing thence No. 65 Et. 60 poles to two
pines his corner thence So. 25 Et. 180 pole to a pine his other corner thence the same course contained 60 poles
to a stake thence So. 65 Wt. 180 pole to a stake by the River 60 pole below Herringtons hickory corner thence the
same course contained to the River and up the River as it meanders to the begining which said Tract or parcel of
Land the said Samuel Ward purchased from Daivd Cannon and is to contain by estimation two hundred acres be the
same more or less. The contents of a paten granted to have and to hold the said Bargained premises with all the
appurtainances to the same belonging or is any ways appurtaining to him the said Curling Smith his heirs or assign
forever and the said Samuel Ward the aforesaid Land and premises to him the said Curling Smith his heirs and assigns
shall and will warrant and forever Defend and against the said Samuel Ward his heirs and assigns as also from and
against the Just and Lawfull claim or claims or every other persons person or persons whatsoever who may hereafter
laying just and lawfull claim to the same. In witness whereof the said Samuel Ward hath hereunto set his and seal
date first above written
