(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 232, 233, & 234 Robert Slone To Joseph Wilson Deed 40 acres This Indenture made the 9 Day of October one thousand seven hundred and Eighty nine between Robert Slone of the State of North Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part and Joseph Wilson of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Robert Sloan for Diverse good causes and considerations him thereunto moving but more especially for the valuable sum of five shillings current money to him in hand well and and Truly paid by the said Joseph Wilson the Receipt of the same he the said Robert Sloan Doth hereby acknowledge himself to be therewith fully satisfied contented and paid of Every part thereof Doth hereby acquit and forever Discharge the said Joseph Wilson his heirs and assigns forever and hath by these presents given granted bargained and sold and forever confirm to the said Joseph Wilson one Tract or Parcel of Land situate lying and being in the State and County aforesaid on the south west side of Maxwell Swamp and on the Indian grave Branch. Begining at a Black gum the fourth corner of a survey of one hundred and sixty acres patened by Robert Dickson paten bearing date the 26th Day of October thence with the paten line No. 58 East 60 poles to a pine thence Down a Dividing line between Joseph Wilsom and Robert Sloan South 32 East 99 poles to a stake thence South 58 West 60 poles to a stake on the paten line thence with the paten line No. 30 west to the Begining containing forty acres by Estimation be the same more or Less it being a part of the above said Patened Land bearing as above and afterwards by Deed from Robert Dickson to Andrew Wallice bearing Date January the first 1778 and afterwards conveyed eighty acres of said Land by Deed from Andrew Wallice to Robert Sloan Deed bearing date the seventeenth Day of January 1780 The Forty acres being a part of the said Eighty acres as above mentioned courses above be the same more or less. To have and To Hold the above bargained Land and premises to him the said Joseph Wilson his heirs and assigns for & to their only proper use benefit and behoofe and the said Robert Sloan Doth covenant and agree to warrant & forever Defend the said forty acres of Land to him the said Joseph Wilson his heirs and assigns from and against the said Robert Sloan his Heirs and assigns the just and Lawfull claim or claims of any other person or persons whatsoever who may hereafter lay any Lawfull claim or claims to the same and he the said Joseph Wilson the above said bargained Land and premises shall and may have Hold use occupy and enjoy and possess as his own free and Lawfull Inheritance free from all former gifts grants judgements Intail Dower Right of Dowers or any other Incumbrance whatsoever Except the Taxes now Due hereafter may become Due and said Land only Excepted fore prissed In witness whereof the said Robert Sloan hath set his hand and fixed his seal the Day and year first above written. signed sealed and Delivered In the presence of us Robert Sloan David Sloan Thomas Cummins State of No. Carolina Duplin County April Term 1791 Then was the within Deed acknowledged in open Court and ordered to be Registered.
