John Williams & Wife To Amos Johnston
Deed for 100 acres lands
This indenture made this eleventh day of August in the year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and eighty seven between John Williams & Cloe his wife of
Duplin County of the one part and Amos Johnston ofr the said County of the other part,
witnesseth that the said John Williams & Cloe Williams his wife for and in consideration
of the sum of one hundred & fifty pounds current money of Carolina to him in hand paid
by the said Amos Johnston the receipt whereof the said John Williams & Cloe Williams
doth hereby acknowledge, hath granted bargained sold conveyed & confirmed & by these
presents doth grant bargain sell convey and confirm unto the said Amos Johnston his
heirs & assigns forever, a certain piece or parcel of land situate in Duplin County,
lying on the North East Prong of Cape Fear, including the plantation whereon Robert
Hooks, which said land by several conveyances become the property of John Williams.
Begining at a large red oak at the last station or corner of the original patent,
thence the old line So. 5 Et. 174 pole to a pine William Pickett's corner, thence said
Picket's line No. 87 Wt. 132 poles to a white oak said Picket's corner, thence the
dividing line between said Picket's & Murray No. 30 Wt. 34 pole to a pine thence comes
thence the same course continued No. 30 Wt. along Pickett's line with some olde marked
trees 150 poles to the open line ot the patent, thence as that line No. 88 Et. 208 to
the begining, containing one hundred acres more or less, together with all woods commons
profits advantages ways waters & appurtenances whatsoever belonging to the said land
or in any wise appertaining to & also the reversions & remainders rents & services of
the said premises & every part thereof, to have and to hold the said land with all
singular premises unto the said Amos Johnston his heirs & assigns, to his and their only
proper use & behoof forever, & lastly the said John Williams & Cloe his wife doth further
covenant & agree to warrant & defend the said Amos Johnston his heirs & assigns in peaceble
quiet possession of the said land & premises against all manner of persons whatsoever.
In witness whereof the said John William & Cleo his wife hath hereunto set them hands &
affixed their seals the day & year above written.
