(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 38, & 39 John Wheeden to Caleb Quinn Deed 50 acres This Indenture made the first day of January in the thirteenth year of American Independence and in the year of our Lord Christ on thousand seven hundred and Ninety Between John Wheeden of the State of North Carolina and County of New hanover of the one part and Caleb Quinn of the State aforesaid and County of Duplin of the other part witnesseth that the said John Wheeden for divers good causes and considerations him thereunto moving but more especially for the valuable consideration of the sum of twenty pounds current money of the said State to him in hand well and truly paid or secured to be paid by Caleb Quinn aforesaid before the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath by these presents granted bargained sold assigned and set over to the said Caleb Quinn his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in Duplin County aforesaid on the East side of the North East and north side of Limestone Creek on a Branch of Cabbin Swamp called Poley. Begining at a stake on the Run of the Branch about 20 poles below the second corner of the Paten thence as the Paten line South to a pine the first station of the said paten thence as the open line of said paten Et 100 poles to a stake the fourth corner in the paten Thence No to the run of poley branch, thence up said run as it meanderst to the place of begining, including Caleb Quinn Improvements whereon he now lives, being all that part of a paten granted to the said John Wheden the first day of July 1779 which is therein contained on the west side of South west side of the said poley branch containing by estimation Fifty acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid land and premises with all the appurtenances to him the said Caleb Quinn his heirs and assigns forever free from all former gifts grants mortgages wills entails dowers Right of Title of Dower or any other Incumbrance whatever given granted or done by him the said John Wheden and the said John Wheden the aforesaid land and premises to him the said Caleb Quinn his heirs and assigns shall and will warrent and forever defend from and against him the said John Wheden his heirs and assigns as also from the just and lawful claim of all and every other person whatsoever in witness whereof the said John Wheden hath hereunto set his hand and seal the date above written signed sealed and Delivered John Wheden in the presence of us John Holdon Theo Swinson State of No. Carolina Duplin County July Term 1790 Then was the within Deed proved in open court by the oath of Theophilus Swinson and ordered to be registered Test W. Dickson C.C.
