(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 539, 540, & 541 John Teachey & Wife To Timothy Teachey Deed for 100 acres lands This indenture made this seventh day of March in the thirteenth year of American Independency, & in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty eight. Between John Teachey of Duplin County and Province of No. Carolina planter of the one part & TImothy Teachey of Duplin County & province aforesaid planter of the other part send greetint. Know ye that I the said John Teachey for and in considertaion of the sum of one hundred pounds specie to me in hand paid by Timothy Teachey of the County and provinc aforesaid, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge myself therewith fully satisfied contented and paid thereof & of every part and parcel thereof do exonerate acquit and discharge the said Timothy Teachey his heirs executors and administrators forever, & by these presents do freely fully and absolutely give grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto him the said Timothy Teachey his heirs administrators and assigns & forever, one messuage tract or parcel of land situate lying & being in Duplin County and situate on both sides of Little Rockfish swamp on the edge by Wenbirk Boney's line, thence crossing the swamp No. 30 Et. 84 pole to a pine, thence No. 63 Wt. 60 pole to a pine, thence No. 30 Et. 28 pole to a pine, thence No. 60 Wt. 104 poles to a pine, So. 75 Wt. 80 pole to a myrtle on the edge of the swamp by Wimbark Boney's line, thence down the west side of the swamp with Wimbark Boney's line to the first station, containing one hundred acres of land be it more or less. To have and to hold the said bargained & granted premise, with all the appurtenances to him the said Timothy Teachey his heirs executors administrators or assings, to him or their only proper use benefit & behoof & I the said John Teachey for myself my heirs executors & administrators, do covenant promise and grant to & with the said Timothy Teachey his heirs and assigns, that before the ensealing hereof I am the true sole & lawfull owner of the above bargained land and premises, & am lawfully seized & possessed if the same in mine own proper right as a good perfect and absolute estate estate of inheritance in fee simple & have in myself good right full power & lawfull authority to give grant bargain sell alien convey & confirm the said bargained premises in manner as above said, & that the said Timothy Teachey his heirs & assigns shall and may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter, by force & virtue of these presents, lawfully & peacibly & quietly have hold use occupie possess & enjoy the said demised & bargained premises, with all the appurtenances thereto belonging free and clear freely & clearly acquited exonerated and discharged off.. from all manner of former or other gifts grants bargins sales leases wills mortgages entales jointures judgments executions or any other incumbrance whatsoever, furthermore I the said John Teachey for myself my heirs and assigns do covenant to & with the said Timothy Teachey his heirs and assigs to warrant & defend the said premises against the lawfull clame of any person or persons claiming or tp claim by through me or my heirs or assigns or any of us. In tesstomony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my sel the day & date above written.
