John Molten To Joseph Cox junr.
Deed for 350 acres lands
This indenture made the fourth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven
hundred & eighty six and in the elventh year of the American Independance. Between John Molten
of the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin planter of the one part, and Joseph Cox junr.
of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of
fifty pounds currence of the State of No. Carolina to him in hand well and truly paid by Joseph
Cox junr. aforesaid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged & himself therewith fully
satisfied & paid & of every part and parcel doth exonerate acquit & discharge the said Joseph
Cox junr. his heirs & assigns forever, have by these presents given granted bargained sold
assigned & set over all that tract or parcel of land sittuate lying & being in the County of
Duplin aforesaid, on the west side of the No. East River. Begining at a maple gum & water oak
in the edge of a bent of the River swamp, thence No. 36 Wt. 170 pole to a pine in the swamp
edge, thence No. 86 Wt. 100 pole to a pine by the swamp, thence So. 30 Wt. 120 poles to a stake,
thence So. 54 Et. 250 pole to a stake in the pocoson, thence No. 30 Et. 120 pole to the begining
containing in the whole by estimation two hundred & fifty acres be the same more or less, being
the contents of a patten granted to the aforesaid John Molten the thenth day of November 1784.
To have & to hold the said bargained premises with all the appurtenances to the same belonging
or in any wise appertaining to him the said Joseph Cox junr. his heirs and assigns forever,
free from all former gifts grants mortgages intails wills executions entents or troubles
whatever & the said Joseph Cox junr. the aforesaid land & premises shall & may have hold use
occupie possess & forever enjoy as his own lawfull inheritance free from all incumbrance
whatsoever given granted of done by him the said John Molten or any other person by from or
under him, and the said John Molten the aforesaid land and premises shall & will warrant &
forever defend to him the said Joseph Cox junr. his heirs & assigns forever, from & against
him the said John Molten his heirs & assings as also from & against the just & lawfull clame
to the same. In witness whereof the said John Molten hath hereunto set his hand & seal the
day & year first above written.
