James Sullivan to Samuel Sullivan 206 Acres
State of North Carolina Duplin County
This indenture made this 23rd day of January in the year of our Lord 1845 between James
Sullivan of the county and state aforesaid of the one part and his son Samuel Sullivan of
the other part witnesses that for and in consideration of the natural love and affection that
I have and bear for my son Samuel Sullivan and for the further consideration of the sum of
Ten Dollars to the said James Sullivan in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery
of these presents first receiving to myself the privilege of certain tract of land which I shall
hereafter designate for and during the term of my natural life the receipt where of is
acknowledged there of to be there with fully satisfied contented and paid have given granted
bargained and sold and by these presents do give grant bargain sell align conform convey
and set over to Samuel Sullivan the following mefounge tract or parcel of land situated, lying
and being in the state and county aforesaid on the east side of the road leading from
Kenansville to White Hall beginning at a poplar on the run of Sodd’s branch and runs N 71
W 220 poles to a stake on the road thence along the road W 41 E 42 poles thence N 13
E 110 poles to a pine by the side of the road then S 71 E 25 poles to a poplar on the run
of said branch thence up the run as it meanders to the beginning containing 206 acres to
have and to hold the before bargained land and premises free and clear of all manner of
encumbrance or encumbrances whatsoever with all profits privileges ? Advantages whatsoever
to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to the said Samuel Sullivan his heirs Exec.
Adm. Or assigns only as before reserved of the said James Sullivan doth for his part bind and
oblige himself his heirs Exec Amin. And assigns to warrant declare and forever defend the
before bargained land and Premises free and clear of and from the just and lawful claim or
demand of all and every other person or persons whatsoever claiming any right title or
interest in the term of any part or parcel thereof in witness whereof the said James Sullivan
have hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal day and date first written
