James Morris To John Barfield
Bill of Sale
State of No. Carolina
Duplin County
Know all men by these presents that I James Morris of the County and State aforesaid have
Bargained and Sold unto John Barfield of the same County and State aforesaid one Negroe fellow Slave Called
providence for the sum of one hundred pounds in Hard money in Gold and Silver which said Negroe I do warrant
and forever Defend against the Lawfull Claim or Claimsw of any person or persons Laying any Claim wright or
Title to said Negroe to the said John Barfield his heirs Executors administrators or assigns forever against
the Claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever. In witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and
seal this 26th day of November 1791.
