James Pearsall Sheriff To James Gillespie
Bill of Sale
State of North Carolina Duplin County
Whereas a writ of vinditione Exponeas was directed to my by the Clerk of said County for
the said of sundry slaves executed to satisfy to a judgement obtained by Henry Toomer Admr.
of John Gordon ag to the Estate of Harrald Blackmore Deed after duly notifying the same to
exposed to sale on monday the 20th Instatn at Duplin Court House being the first day of the
present Term the following slaves to wit Salirah, and her three youngest children, when
James Gillespie being the Highest bider became the purchaser to the said slaves for the
sum of one hundred and fifty six pounds five shillings now know that I James Pearsall High
Sheriff of said County do acknowledge to have sold the said slaves unto the said James
Gillespie in face and open manner according to the powers and authorityes vested in me and
the directions of the said Venditione Exposeas aforesaid Given under under my hand and seal
this 23d day of July Anno Domi 1790
