James Herring To Benjamin Herring
Deed 900 acres
This Indenture made this 16th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven
Hundred and Eighty nine. Between James Herring of the state of North Carolina in the County of
Duplin of the one part and Benjamin Herring of the State and County aforesaid of the other part
Witnesseth that the said James Herring for and in consideration of the valuable sum of two
hundred pounds specie money to him in hand paid before the Ensealing and Delivering of these
presents the Receipt Whereof he Doth hereby acknowledge him self to be satisfied and contented
of ever part and parcel thereof doth acquitt and Discharge the said Benjamin Herring his heirs
Exrs. administrators and assigns Given Granted Bargained sold conveyed and confirmed by these
presents for himself his heirs Excrs. adms. and assigns fully grant Bargain sell and convey and
forever confirm unto the said Benjamin Herring his heirs or assigns a certain Tract or parcel of
Land containing by Estimation five Hundred acres be the same more or less situate lying and being
in the above said County of Duplin and on the North side of Goshen swamp and on both sides of
the Narrow meadow Marsh. Beging at a pine on John Sullavints line and runs Et. 324 poles crossing
the narrow Marsh Branch to a pine thence No. 233 poles crossing Rice Ground branch to a black jack
thence Wt. 188 poles to a stake thence So. 30 Wt. 140 poles to a Gum on Neds branch thence No. 60
Wt. 76 poles to a stake on John Sullavints line thence to the begining being patent by John
Sullavints also Another Tract of parcel of Land that John Brock give the said James Herring a Deed
for Joining the aforesaid five Hundred acres Begining at a small white oak in the side of the narrow
marsh & Runs So. 60 Wt. 127 poles to a pine thence No. 30 Wt. 127 poles to a small pine in the head
of a small branch thence Down the Branch No. 60 Et. 127 pole to Narrow marsh thence Down the Marsh
to the Begining containing one hundred acres be the same more or less above Another Tract or parcel
of Land Containing three hundred acres be the same more or less Land John Sullavint give the said
James Herring a Deed for Lying on the Branch called Neds Branch begining at a stake John Sullavints
Corner on the North side of outlaws Marsh and Runs No. 14 Et. 101 poles to a blackjack thence No. 76
Wt. 200 poles Crossing Ground nut to a stake thence So. 14 West a straight course to the narrow marsh
thence Down the marsh with the run to where William Sullavints Line Crosses the marsh thence to a
stake in John Sullavints line thence to the Begining Containg nine Hundred acres in the whole together
to Have and to Hold the above bargained and Demised premises with all the Enjoyments belonging to the
said Land and premises quitrents only excepted and I the said James Herring for myself my heirs Excrs.
admrs. or assigns Do Covenant promise and agree to and to and with Benjamin Herring his heirs and
Excrs. admrs. and assigns to warrant and forever Defend the said Granted & Bargained premises unto
him the said Benjamin Herring his heirs & assigns from the Lawfull Clam or Demand of any person or
persons whatever claiming any Right title or Interest therein In witnesseth hereof I the said James
Herring hath hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal the Day and Date above written.
