James Carr To William Carr
Deed for 100 acres lands
This indenture made the seventeenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred & eighty five, between James Carr of the province of No. Carolina & County of
Duplin of the one part, and William Carr of the province & COunty aforesaid of the other part.
Witnesseth, that the said James Carr for and in consideration of the sum of ten pounds specie
to him in hand paid by the said William Carr the receipt whereof he the said James Carr doth
hereby acknowledge himself to be fully satisfied & paid hath bargained sold and forever
confirmed to him the said William Carr his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land
lying and being in the County and province aforesaid on the south side of Maxwell swamp & both
sides of Mirey Branch. Begining at a water oak by the swamp, thence So. 90 pole to a black
jack on Ben. Williams' line thence the course of his line Wt. 178 pole to a pine near a pond,
thence No. 90 pole to a stake by a pine, thence Et. 178 pole to the begining, containing one
hundred acres be the same more or less, being the contents of a paten bearing date the first
day of April 1780. To have and to hold the above bargined land and premises thereunto belonging,
and he the said James Carr doth for himself his heirs and assigns the above granted & bargained
premises, doth give grant sell alien & forever confirm to him the said William Carr his heirs
executors administrators or assigns to his proper use and benefit free from all incumbrance
whatsoever the assessment only excepted, and the said William Carr his heirs and asigns shall
& may have hold occupie and enjoy his own free and lawfull inheritance, free and clear from all
hindrance from the said James Carr his heirs & assigns, shall warrent and forever defend to him
the said William Carr against the claim of any person or persons claiming, or any incumbrance
to him the said Wiliam Carr his heirs & assigns forever. In witness whereof the said James
Carr hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written.

Then was the within deed proved in open Court by the oath of John Carr & ordered
