Charles James To John Williams
Deed 150 acres
This Indenture made the twenty third day of July in the thirteenth year of American
Independence and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty Eight
Between Charles James of the County of Duplin and State of North Carolina of the one part
Planter, and John Williams of the said County and state aforesaid Witnesseth that for and
in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds current money of the aforesaid State,
to him in hand well and Truly paid before the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents the
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and himself therewith fully satisfied contented and
paid, and by these presents have given granted bargained sold aliened enfelffed conveyed
and confirmed and by these presents do give grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm
unto the said John Williams his heirs and assigns forever a certain Tract or parcel of Land
lying and being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on a Branch of Rockfish Creek known by
the name of horse Branch, Begining at a pine Robert Walkers corner near the great road
runing thence along his line No. 1 Wt. 300 poles to a pine on his line thence Wt. 100 poles
to pine saplin thence So. 1 Et. 100 poles to a stake in a Pocoson, Thence Et. 70 pole to
a pine, thence along the side of the Pocoson So. 1 Et. 120 pole to a pine, thence Wt. 50
pole to a pine, thence Et. 80 pole to a stake thence to the Begining Paten bearing date
1764. And containing in the whole one hundred and fifty acres. To have and to hold the
bargained premises with all the appurtainances to the same belonging or in any wise
appurtaining to him the said John Williams his heirs and assigns forever, to his and their
only proper use benefit and behoofe and the said Charles James for himself his heirs
Executors and adminisrs. doth Covenant and agree to and with the said John Williams his
heirs Executors administrators and assigns that he the said Charles James hath in himself
a good Righfull power and Lawfull authority to sell and Dispose of the same in manner and
form aforesaid, and the said Charles James for himself and his heirs doth farther covenant
promise and agree to warrant and forever Defend the above mentioned Land and every part
and parcel thereof to him the said John Williams his heirs & assigns forever as also against
all and all manner of persons who may hereafter lay any Lawfull Claim to the same. In witness
whereof the said Charles James hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and Date above
written.
