Anthony Miller To George Smith Junr.
Deed 460 acres
This Indenture made this twenty second day of October and in the year of our Lord
Christ one thousand seven hundred and ninety. Between Anthony Miller of the County of Newhanover
and state of North Carolina Planter of the one part and George Smith Junior of the County of
Duplin and state aforesaid Planter of the other part. Witnesseth that I the said Anthony Miller
Do for and in consideration of the sum of Four Hundred Pounds Current money of the state aforesaid
to me in hand paid by the said George Smith before the Ensealing and Delivering of these presents
the Receipt whereof he Doth acknowledge and thereof doth acquit and discharge the aforesaid George
Smith his heirs Excrs. Admrs. and assigns and hath given granted bargained sold Released conveyed
and confirmed and Doth by these presents fully freely and absolutely give grant bargain sell Release
convey and confirm unto him the aforesaid George Smith his heirs Exr. admrs. & assigns forever all
the Tract or parcel of Land containing by Estimation Four Hundred and sixty acres be the same more
or less. Begining at a gum and pine in pole branch above the main Road where David Grears Line comes
and crosses the said branch and Runing down the various courses of the Branch to the mouth Hubbards
corner thence with his a direct line to the River of Worleys slave landing thence up the meanders of
the River to Worleys upper corner and from thence to the mouth of Tandams branch near Millers swamp
field thence up the run of said branch to where the main Road Crosses thence up the Road to a sweet
gum and red oak saplins Fredrick Smiths corner thence along a row of marked trees till it strikes
tandam branch again and then up the various courses of the branch to Millers back line and thence his
line to David Grears Line thence Grears to a bunch of marked pines Grears Corner thence with Grears
Line to the Begining in Poley branch which Land being and lying in Duplin County and on the East side
of the North East branch of Capefare River Including the plantation where James Herring now liveth
part being patened by Alexander McCulloh esquire part by Thomas Worley and party by Anthony Miller
Reference being had may more fully appear Including all the Land within the Bounds and several courses
herein Described with all the benefits priviledges and appertainances thereunto belonging the said
smith to hold the aforesaid Land above Described unto the use of him his heirs Exrs. admrs. or assigns
free of all former grants or gifts of any kind whatsoever and I the said Anthony Miller for myself my
heirs Excrs. adrs. warrant and forever Defend the said Land and premises from any Lawfull claims of
any person or persons laying any Lawfull claim or Demand to the said Land & premises In Witness whereof
I the said Anthony Miller set my hand and afixt myseal the day & date first above written. But if
required I do hereby oblige and each of my heirs to sign another Deed for the said Land & premises if
this should not be deamed Lawful when required In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal.
