Abraham Glisson To Edward Dickson
Deed for 190 acres lands
This indenture made the seventh day of October in the ninth year of American
Independence & in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and eighty four
between Abraham Glisson of the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin of the one part,
and Edward Dickson of the same place of the other part witnesseth, that the said Abraham
Glisson for divers good causes and considerations him thereunto moving, but more especially
for the valuable consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds specie, to him in hand well
and truly paid or secured to be pain by Edward Dickson aforesaid, befor the ensealing &
delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath by these presents
given granted bargained sold assigned & set over the said Edward Dickson his heirs & assigns
forever all that tract or parcel of land sittuate lying & being in Duplin County aforesaid
on the No. side of Stewarts Creek including the pritty meadow. Begining at a black gum on
the run of Stewarts Creek opposite to Ben Johnston's field & runs thence along Thomas Johnston's
line No. 25 Wt. 200 polt to a pine thence No. 65 Et. 240 poles to a black gum in the back
branch at Joseph Williams line thence to a black gum and sweet gum on the run of the branch
Thomas Johnston's corner, thence running with Johnston's line down the swamp 190 poles to a
black gum his begining corner, thence along his other line So. 80 Et. 54 poles to a large pine
his corner by Camp Branch, thence joining Johnston's other line to the begining containing in
the whole one hundred and ninety acres be the same more or less being the contents of a patent
granted to Robert Knox the fourth day of March 1775. To have and to hold the aforesaid land
and premises with all the appertenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining of
every nature or kind whatever and the said Abraham Glisson the aforesaid land and premises to
him the said Edward Dickson his heirs & assigns shall & will warrant and forever defend from &
against him the said Abraham Glisson his heirs & assigns as also from the lawfull claim or
demand of all persons whatsoever claiming by from or under him in as full & ample manner as
the said Glisson by his deed from Robert Knox might or could have enjoyed. In witness whereof
the said Abraham Glisson hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & date first written.
