Elias Sullivan
Birth: March 19, 1844
He enlisted as a Private in Company CO, 51st North Carolina Regiment on May 5,
1863 for the war. He was stunned by an artillery shell at Fort Harrison, Virginia on
September 30, 1864. From October to December 1864 he was reported sick in
General Hospital Camp Winder in Richmond, Virginia. He was released by the
hospital to return to duty twice. First on November 8, 1864 and then readmitted to
the hospital on December 22, 1864 and then return to duty on December 30, 1864.
On May 1, 1865 he was paroled at Greensboro, North Carolina.
Death: December 10, 1913
Buried: Sullivan Cemetery, Fred Everett Road, Lenoir County.
Side note: Their father was Insil Sullivan. His original will and court probate
papers from 1890 and 1891 are in the State Archives.
