Samuel West
The first record found of Samuel WEST, born before 1753, was when he fought in the Battle
of Moores Creek Bridge. Samuel WEST owned Duplin land 1783 and Sampson County land
1784 and was found on the tax lists of Duplin County 1783, 1786, 1787, 1788, 1806, and 1808
and Sampson tax list 1784. A few doors from him lived Wm. WEST, in both counties. Wm.
WEST was found also on the Duplin Tax List of 1783 and the Sampson County Tax List of 1784.
In 1782 Samuel purchased Duplin land from Clifton BOWEN. What was his relationship to Clifton
BOWEN?
Who was Samuel's wife?
Question: where did Samuel live before he arrived in Duplin County? Was he born in Duplin County?
What was the relationship between Samuel and Wm. WEST? Were they related? When and where
did Wm. WEST die? Please note that YDNA tested proves Samuel is not related to James WEST,
progenitor, born ca 1725, died after 1794.
Any and all help appreciated.
