I need proof of parents and/or siblings of Joseph Williams b ca 1748 (place unknown) married Martha
Perritt/Parrott ca 1750 possibly in Edgecombe Co. ca 1766. Joseph and Martha are found in Duplin
Co. in the Great Coharrie Swamp in 1784. Their first child was Edith (Eady) who married George
House. The 2nd child was Henry William b Aug. 23, 1769 m (1) Sally Parker (2) Nancy Herring 1792
in Duplin Co d/o Joseph Herring and Unicy Uzzell. Joseph Williams, the father became a Baptist
preacher, was in the Rev. War and moved from Sampson Co. NC to Union Co., NC just after the 1800
census. His sons William, Henry, Paret/Parrott/Perritt, Lemuel all moved to Anson Co. shortly after
Joseph and Martha.
Martha Parrott/Perritt recorded from folk lore as being the daughter of John Parrott and his wife Agnes
of Edgecombe Co. Extensive research has not been able to prove her parents. There is a John Perritt
who had and in Duplin Co. in 1765 but inherited his father's land in Edgecombe Co. They are also found
in Pitt Co where John Perritt sold land and his wife Agnes signed away her dower. They are next found
in Wrightsborough, GA the Quaker settlement there where Agnes is named Executrix Sept. 1, 1783 but
heirs listed when she sold his land do not include a daughter, Martha.
Any help or clue would be much appreciated on both Joseph Williams and Martha Parrott/Perritt.
