Submitted by Sloan Mason The Sun August 14, 1812 Wilmington Gazette of July 28. Wilmington, August 4-- On Thursday morning, the volunteers from Duplin County consisting of 80 able bodied men, under the command of Capt. Gusson, embarked from this place for Smithville. In compliment to their brothers in arms, Callender's volunteers paraded, and at the place of embarkation, saluted them on their departure. A return was made by sailing-master Levy, and mutual cheerings succeeded. |
